Independent Contractor – Art Instructor

The following are guidelines for someone wanting to teach at the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Arts Center at 303 Main Avenue S.  Fayetteville, TN 37334 and may not be inclusive.

1)      They must inform their students at the beginning  of every class that they:

a.       Do not represent the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Arts Center and have no authority to speak on behalf of the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Arts Center.  Also, that they are not an employee of the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Arts Center.

b.      Anything that they say, promise, or offer has no relationship or bearing to the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Arts Center or its members.

 

2)      Staffing levels for Art Classes are at the discretion of the Instructor.  We do ask that anyone supervising the activities of someone less than the age of 18 be at least 21 years of age.

 

3)      The Instructor agrees to pay 20% of the fees charged to someone taking their class.

 

4)      The Instructor agrees to pay the annual membership to the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Arts League so that they can be covered by the Arts Center Liability Insurance as a member of the Arts League.

 

5)      The Instructor has total discretion as to the fees or tuition they wish to charge. 

 

6)      The Instructor has total discretion as to what days and hours they wish to offer their classes as long as they are coordinated with the President of the Fayetteville –Lincoln County Arts League.

 

7)      Any supplies or equipment that the Instructor provides are to be removed after each class is completed unless prior arrangements have been made. The Arts Center takes no liability on anything that is damaged, destroyed or disappears from the Center. Instructors will have free use of any equipment that they find around the Arts Center classroom, art supplies or other consumable items are not to be used.

 

8)      The Arts Center will provide other such non-art related supplies (IE: Toilet Paper, Garbage Bags, Light Bulbs and Hand Soap etc.)  and will be responsible for determining the level of such. If such supplies should run short, the Instructor is to inform the President of the Art League in a timely matter.  

 

9)      The Instructor is allowed to teach any Art subjects they desire as long as it is not judge unsuitable by the public or the President of the Art League.  If in doubt ask!!

 

10)   The Arts Center provides the following services to the Teacher at no cost to them:

 

1.       Tables & Chair

2.       Classroom & necessary maintenance of the building

3.       Caulk Board

4.       Computer Projector on request

5.       Misc Non- Art Supplies listed in #8

6.       Free Advertising for the event

7.       Registration services-including tuition collection via Credit Card, Cash or Check (service fee will be charged on all Credit Card charges)

8.       If you need something, ask!  We can often get things on short-term loan.

 

11)      Art Instructor does have the right to ask that a particular student not be allowed to attend their class as long as it is not based on race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, familial status, parental status, religion, sexual orientation, genetic information, political beliefs, or reprisal. 

 

12)      The Art Instructor does have the right to ask a student to not complete their class or series of classes as long as their decisions is not based on race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, familial status, parental status, religion, sexual orientation, genetic information, political beliefs, or reprisal.  The Instructor will be expected to provide a financial return for any untaken classes minus any supplies the Instructor has purchased for that individual to use during class.

 

13)      Unfortunately, the Arts Center building is not ADA Accessible, and we cannot therefore accommodate ADA request.

 

14)      The Instructor agrees to make sure the building has all the lights turned off, the heat or air conditioning is turned off and all doors are locked at the end of each class after everyone has left the building.

By signing this agreement, the Instructor understands they are responsible for all their own taxes, and Social Security.  They understand that they do not represent the Arts Center and has no authority to speak on behalf of the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Arts Center.  They understand that they are not being paid on an hourly bases and are exempt from being able to collect overtime.  The Instructor understands that they are to be present on the premises at all times when students are attending their class.  They have read and understand everything in the agreement.
